Our Summer - Day 20

The biggest excitement of our day today was sending Jared off to our church's summer camp.  Wow!  He is super excited about it (as are we...a few tears from this Mama, though ;) ).  We pray for his safety and that he enjoys his time up there.  We'll see him back in a few days ;D
Jared with the group of boys and his leader he will be with the entire time at camp. Sorry it is blurry :P

Our Summer - Day 19

More swim lessons for the kids. This is session 2...Suzan's and Anna's class. And somehow I didn't get pics of Jared's class :( Will have to get them next week!

Jared is off to our church's camp soon!  5 days, 4 nights. It's for incoming 4th, 5th and 6th graders. He is SUPER excited about it! Lots of fun activities for the kids, e.g. climbing wall, archery, camp store to shop at, zip line and zip chair (aka The Screamer Swing ;D ), field games, paintball target shooting, swimming, hiking, and most of all singing worship songs and learning about Jesus. We've been busy the last day or two getting him ready and packed.

I thought it would be fun to put a card from home in his suitcase, for him to open there and read our little note to him. So I made him this one :D I hope he likes it. I know we'll miss the guy! :) :(

Our Summer - Day 18

A few weeks ago we were talking about my pecan pies I make (only around Thanksgiving) and Paul said "what's that taste like again? I forget. yeah, we should have more of that around here!" So, that's what I made him for dessert for Father's Day. And I think he enjoyed it ;D
Happy Father's Day!! :)

Our Summer - Day 17

We went to Bass Pro Shops today. All summer long (from June 8th to July 14th) they have lots of free activities for the family...carousel rides, crafts, workshops (you can get a lanyard and earn pins by attending each workshop), BB shooting gun range, casting targets and more. Then, for Father's Day weekend we got free catch and release fishing in their pond and pictures with Dad. It was SO fun!

Our Summer - Day 16

The highlight of our day today was a trip, with Grammy, to the Arizona Science Center.  Thanks to one of those Groupon or Living Social deals, we got a family pass for us for all summer long.  Sweet!

In the lobby of the Science Center. They have this cool telescope that projects what it sees..
...up onto this huge end of a telescope hanging from the ceiling. This is Anna's eye :)
Outside on the patio, fun water contraptions for the kids

This is the "Many Hands Make a Home" room, where kids can check out how homes are built. Brielle, checking out how hot, cold and drain water moves through a house.
Jared's being an architect, building blueprints :)
Brielle said she was building a jail ;)
Suzan, Anna and Grammy learning about "homes that beat the heat"
Brielle's getting clean in the shower, washing her hair ;D
Bethany too!

Off to the "W.O.N.D.E.R. Center" and "All About Me" rooms
Here, this gentleman is running an experiment with dish soap, glycerol and dry ice
It makes BIG bubbles
That the kids can pop

Now, we are in the "Get Charged Up!" room, learning about electricity, physics and more

And pivot points
Oh, and Jared flew an Apache helicopter ;)
More on the pivots
In the "My Digital World." The girls enjoyed making/coloring their own face pictures :)
Oooo! A 3D printer!

Ha! We laughed SO much at this exhibit. Distorting our faces ;)
Then, they had a fun, impromptu experiment. What happens when you put nitro glycerin in a bottle, put it in water and then cover it up in containers?
They take off running!
Hm...waiting...
BOOM! It explodes!
And then comes down in a crash - FUN! :)
